Mother

A mother for 9 months is shelter, loves, awaits, plans for the arrival of a little being she doesn't even know yet. And, no matter if the pregnancy was planned or not, what matters is that when the long-awaited moment arrives and you meet, look at each other for the first time, you wonder how you lived so long without that little one who has just introduced themselves.

You still don't know their preferences, quirks, you don't yet know the sound of their voice well, but this connection is so powerful that it will make you recognize their cry among thousands of cries of other little ones. Your heart expands inside your chest. You now face all your fears (from the silliest to the biggest) to ensure that your children don't encounter them. For example, I, who would easily leave the room for a cockroach, now found myself facing for the first time that winged monster, how audacious, the baby's room is a territory you have no right to enter. I'm sorry, but this dreaded confrontation can no longer be postponed.

And when the second child comes? You wonder, can two loves like this fit inside my chest? Where would there be room for more love? And again, when the long-awaited encounter happens, you realize that you have just received and met someone you have always waited for. Your life seems to have been made for them, a mother's heart is constantly expanding. Ah, the second child received a trained mother who now knows how to be a mommy.

It's true that it's not an easy mission, but being a mother is a privilege. Some early mornings seem eternal; some days endless, some tears shed along the way do not diminish the beauty of the journey. Mom, don't mind if your dedication is not appreciated outside. Care that those on the inside cannot imagine themselves without you.

People seem to find it easier to understand that having a successful business requires a lot of effort and dedication, that to achieve your dreams you need to give a lot of yourself. But they don't always view the sacrifice and merit of building a family in such a favorable light. And yes, as someone once said, it is fair that something that is worth a lot costs a lot. Just remember that no season, no matter how good or challenging it may be, lasts forever. Don't fall into the mistake of living for yourself, the best of life is to serve to serve.

Don't be afraid to be an entrepreneur, employee, wife, pastor, friend, daughter, homemaker… likewise, don't be afraid to be a mother amidst so many other versions, you have a special grace to exercise your motherhood. I know it can be exhausting at times, but you have the opportunity to nurture, forge, care for, and shape someone according to God's heart.

Imagine Noah's mother. In a generation where everyone was evil and did evil things, Noah's mother raised a good man who walked with God. And the mothers of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? Those boys who refused to bow down before other gods. Those boys who knew who they were and knew who their God was. And when they entered the furnace, everyone else could witness what they already knew, they were not alone. There was one more in the furnace with them.

And Deborah's mother? She forged a wise, influential woman; a prophet and a voice of God for her time.

What incredible mothers! Your children are God's answer for this time and this season, you have the noble mission to guide them, awaken them, teach them the way. And don't worry, do your part, because when the season changes and they depart from your shore, don't worry, there will always be one more with them.
